My First Therapy Dog Assignment

So yesterday Mom wakes up bright and early and puts me in the car. I knew where I was going, a school. Mom's been telling me for weeks.

After we drive and drive and drive we arrive at this school and Curtis was there to meet us.

There's me

But I wasn't the only therapy dog there.

From left to right: Slyer a Havanese, Bucky a Shih-Tsu, and Percie a Labradoodle

A Boxer named Jill

There was also a Schnauzer named Bella. (Not my sister)

So we all meet Curtis and Curtis arranges the order we will go in. Curtis said I would go in last because the kids would love me the most. As soon as Curtis called my name Mom and I walked in and you should have heard the jaws drop of the students. The students and teachers were so amazed that Curtis had Mom parade me in front of the first row of students.

So after the school assembly we all individually get to go to the classrooms. Guess who was in such high demand? So instead I go to the gym so the students get a chance to pet me.

Curtis is asking me to sit

Getting petted.

Curtis said the school might ask us to come back in a few months. I can't wait. Maybe next time Bella, my sister not the Schnauzer, will be done with her training and can join us.

Doggie Pool-ooza

Over a week ago Mom and Dad said we were going to Doggie Pool-ooza. As the name says there was a large pool and they let the dogs swim.

I had a lot of fun

Daddy kept getting me into the pool

We even got Bella to swim

Though after a few tries Bella had enough. Bella you are not a parrot.

Several of my friends were there too. Duke and his sister Jasmine along with Arrow. Arrow also won the Doggie Swimsuit competition. Along with some more danes.

I get my first therapy dog assignment later this week. I can't wait.

Bella Completed CGC

Bella graduated from her Canine Good Citizen, CGC, class today. Bella you can now start your therapy dog training and become a therapy dog like me. It's a lot of work but it's well worth it in the end. Plus you get petted a lot.

Advice For Potential Future Great Dane Owners

Daddy got a call from Grandma today saying that one of Grandma's friend's has a great dane puppy that has just gotten too big for her. Mommy and Daddy said they are going to go see the puppy next week and maybe bring it home. Yay! I get another little brother or sister. Bring on the serious side I thought I'd use this opportunity to educate some future potential great dane owners.

You will not believe how many great danes end up in the pound by the time they are 6 or 7 months old. That is because by then they are so big but we're still puppies and we behave like immature puppies. By then we're about the size of an adult lab or German Shepard.

I know when a lot of people see my mommy walking me around Victoria Gardens a lot of people want a Great Dane because I'm so huge. My advice to people before you get a Great Dane is to please do your homework. Realize that when we're puppies we're the size of other adult dogs. Or as my Mommy puts it. Get ready to have a 6 foot tall 5 year old around the house.
